Wal-Mart Lets Fans Connect to Local Stores Over Facebook

Wal-Mart and Facebook have entered into a partnership to allow the discount chain’s nine million Facebook fans connect with its local branches. The store will be debuting more than 3,500 Facebook fan pages that will provide up-to-date information on the latest happenings in your neck of the woods.

Facebook announcements will include new product launches, discount alerts and in-store events. The individual pages will also provide detailed maps outlining where you can find certain products.

Wal-Mart said it decided to launch the local pages after its Facebook fans asked for them. With the holiday season coming up, we can’t imagine this will be a bad partnership…
