Nintendo isn’t the only one reporting dramatic drops in sales. Market research NPD Group announced sales of video games, their consoles and their accessories have fallen by 34 percent this past January, as compared to a year ago.
The normally robust holiday period didn’t help, either. Holiday figures were down 31 percent. These numbers have surpassed analysts’ expectations, which hovered around 12 percent.
