The iPhone 4S looks pretty much like the iPhone 4. But inside, it’s a way different story. The newest iPhone is a true worldphone, with both CDMA and GSM chipsets, so they’ll work on virtually any carrier. In the U.S., it’s AT&T, Verizon and now Sprint. The internals have an all new camera, with a new lens that’s 30% sharper and a sensor that is now 8 megapixels. That much is just keeping up with the Joneses, it’s really overkill for a phone. It will, however, also shoot full 1080p HD video.

The CPU is the same now as the iPad 2, a dual-core A5 chip, making the phone blazing fast. It runs iOS 5, with iMessage iCloud and the new voice-commanded digital assistant, Siri. Siri allows you to control your phone, send text messages, search for information and more, all by voice. And she has some fun easter eggs built-in. E.g. if you ask her to open the bay doors, she’ll reply “I’m sorry Dave, I can’t do that”, a la Hal 9000 from Kubrick’s 2001.

Not changed is the super clear Retina display and option of black or white phone.

The iPhone 4S is available now on Sprint, AT&T or Verizon in capacities up to 64GB.
