If your point-and-shoot just isn’t cutting it and you want more control or a longer zoom, check out the GE Power Pro X500-BK Digital Camera. It offers a 15x optical zoom with optical image stabilization, an electronic viewfinder, a 16 megapixel sensor and more. The camera works well in low light, with sensitivity up to ISO 3200. It uses AA alkaline batteries for up to 300 photos, or AA NiMH batteries for up to 500 photos. The 2.7″ LCD on the back isn’t the largest, but it’s easy enough to see on a camera that couldn’t fit a much larger one.

Face recognition and automatic scene detection means you can let the camera have as much or as little control as you’d like. It even has smile detection, for those times when your grandkids smile for periods too brief to capture by hand.
