Those who are upgrading from feature phones to smartphones seem to prefer Android, according to the NPD Group. New smartphone owners purchase Android-operated phones about 57 percent of the time, while iPhones are chosen only 34 percent of the time.
The most likely reason for this is that the Android operating system is available on a variety of phones, including Motorola, LG, HTC and Samsung. Apple does, however, offer the most popular smartphones on the market, the group noted.
