Samsung recently released its quarterly earnings report. Among its top findings was the fact that the company’s smartphone sales have ballooned from seven million to 28 million year-over-year. The company also stated it has shipped more than 30 million of its Galaxy smartphones since the phone debuted in June of last year.
Perhaps even more surprising, however, is that Samsung has outsold Apple in the past quarter. About 17 million iPhones were sold in the last quarter. According to reports, Samsung currently holds 23.8 percent of the global smartphone market. Apple’s market share dropped to 14.6 percent from 17.4 percent in the last quarter, and third-place Nokia dropped from 32.7 percent to 14.4 percent.
