Samsung recently announced it has created a prescription lens option on its active-shutter 3D glasses, which need to be worn when viewing 3D content on Samsung’s new 3DTVs. Currently available only in Korea, the SSG-R2200 model is custom made within one week by an optometrist. These prescription 3D glasses should be available in the United States in the not-too-distant future, though price has yet to be determined.
Whether or not this option can significantly diminish possible 3D viewing effects, which Samsung warned about back in April, remains to be seen. We do, however, think the introduction of these glasses should greatly benefit an older population looking for hassle-free, easy-to-use solutions to today
