A researcher at Northwestern University claims that although online date sites may result in some matches and even a few marriages, the formulas they use to identify your most compatible candidates is not reliable. Isn’t that a convenient little nugget right before Valentine’s Day?
The researcher says there is no scientific merit behind the formula these sites use, since there are too many limitations and unaccounted factors to make it anywhere close to reliable. The researcher also claims that many confines exist in the online dating realm because nothing can compensate for face-to-face interaction.
We agree that chemistry would be pretty difficult to gauge over a laptop or smartphone screen. However, we also think weeding out the millions of daters that don’t share our fundamental beliefs or have even the most basic things in common with us might help, too.
