The Consumer Electronics Association says more tablets and smartphones will be bought this year than ever before. This may be a logical conclusion to most, as these are two of the hottest electronic categories on the market – and they’re just beginning to pick up steam! However, what might surprise you is that these two types of devices will likely help the consumer electronics industry reach a record-breaking $190-billion revenue in 2011.
This is a 5.6 percent increase over last year. CEA notes that e-readers alone will double their revenue, to $1.8 billion. Smartphone sales are anticipated to increase by 45 percent, or to $23 billion this year.
Are you one of the consumers who has added to this year’s revenue by purchasing a smartphone or tablet?
