Report: British Grandparents Love Their Facebook

A study conducted by MyVoucherCodes notes that UK-based grandparents love their Facebook. The online coupon site surveyed 1,341 grandparents who were aged 60 or older, and found that 22 percent were active on social networking sites. The most popular sites for these grandparents were Facebook (71 percent), Twitter (34 percent) and LinkedIn (nine percent).

Clearly this trend still has momentum, as 68 percent of these socially active grandparents joined these sites in the past 12 month. More than half the respondents said they were encouraged to do so by younger relatives, such as grandchildren.

We’ll take it as a good sign that the younger generations are encouraging these social networking activities and not discouraging their grandparents from connecting with them online.
