The iPad may have captured the majority of the tablet market, but there’s at least one person who prefers Sony to Apple. Pope Benedict XVI chose to light the world’s biggest Christmas tree from a Sony tablet on Dec. 7.
The 2,132-foot lighted tree, which resides on Italy’s Mount Ingino, was lit remotely by the Pope, who spent the evening in his Vatican Apostolic Palace apartment. When that sacred moment came, the Pope pulled out his Sony tablet and gave the go-ahead via finger tap from more than 130 miles away.
MSNBC noted the Pope was initially slated to use Apple’s iPad; however, the news organization was unable to obtain a reason for the switch. See the amazing lighting below.
