The combat jumped out of the game and into real life for one poor Dallas teenager recently. The boy was playing Call of Duty on his Xbox 360 when his game was interrupted by someone in a chatroom who said he was going to hack the kid’s account and send a SWAT team to his house.
The teen went on playing, thinking nothing about this seemingly idle threat. Minutes later, a SWAT team was banging on his family’s front door. Apparently a 9-1-1 operator had received a call from an AT&T Instant Message Relay Service that said someone had been shot in the house and that gunfire could still be heard inside.
Naturally, the allegations were untrue. Police are currently trying to identify the hacker, who seemed to have targeted the teen randomly.
