Apparently sales of the new 3DS aren’t holding up quite as well as Nintendo thought they would. With that stark realization, the Japanese video game giant decided to slash the unit’s price by roughly one-third.
Nintendo is so embarrassed by these dismal sales figures, in fact, that the company president posted a letter online saying this was the most drastic price cut within six months in company history. He offered those who had already purchased the unit at the higher price a free software package.
While Nintendo is clearly bummed that these numbers were so low, no explanation was given as to why the 3DS failed to take off. We guess time will tell whether it was because the unit was priced unreasonably high.
