We recently reported that Nintendo officials admitted its 3DS unit wasn’t doing well sales-wise. The company’s strategy was to drop its price. That strategy has apparently been implemented, as Walmart just announced the Nintendo 3DS will be sold for $170 beginning Aug. 12.
Existing 3DS owners need not feel that they’re missing out, however. Walmart will also be offering 20 classic games on the unit for free. This deal will apply to both new and current 3DS owners.
We’ll be curious to see whether the price cut pays off. Walmart is a popular retailer when it comes to video games and video game consoles, and with the holiday season right around the corner things could get interesting.
